About

Welcome and thanks for checking out my blog! My name is Lisa Gubernick. I live in the Hudson Valley with my husband and two children, ages 9 and 12. I am a banker by trade. When I am not working or taking care of my family, I love reading, writing and photography, so blogging seemed an obvious choice for my creative outlet. This blog is my exploration of humanity. I examine what it means to be human, how we can become more humane towards each other and how we can evolve by engaging in life to the fullest extent possible.

In my category entitled “To Be Human”, I discuss my own personal struggle with anxiety along with all of its causes. I also openly discuss how therapy has changed my life immensely. It has made me a stronger person and has made me realize all the reasons why I do what I do. I recommend this path strongly for everyone. I believe there is a great stigma against getting help in our society and I try to dismantle this myth through my writing.

In my category entitled, “Becoming Humane”, I discuss the many ills of society and how awfully we treat each other sometimes. The atrocities of the world are large in number. We must first become aware of them, simply because that is one responsibility of being a human being. Second, we must do something about them. In silence, we are complicit.

In my third category entitled, “Enriching humanity”, I write about the wonders of diversity, culture and travel. It is in exploring the wondrous world around us and sharing the insights we learn by doing so, that we grow as people and evolve as a human race. There is so much to learn and know if we open our eyes, ears and minds to everyone in our path; we all have our story.
